Biological Anthropology Minor

The Biological Anthropology minor develops an understanding of anthropological approaches to the study of the human body from modern and/or archaeological contexts. This minor is particularly appropriate for students interested in human biology, forensic anthropology, bioarchaeology, or area studies in archaeology.

Admission Requirements

  • The minor is not open to Anthropology majors.

Minor Requirements

  • Students must earn a grade of “C” (2.0) or better in all courses used to satisfy the minor.
  • At least 15 hours used in the minor must be earned at UCF within the department of Anthropology.
  • Only two anthropology courses can overlap for students enrolled in multiple anthropology programs (minors or certificates).

Prerequisite Courses

  • Students must satisfy each course’s prerequisites before enrolling in the class.

Required Courses (3 Credit Hours)

Restricted Electives (15 Credit Hours)

Complete five of the following courses:

Students may substitute one anthropology upper level course that is either an archaeological area study course or a health related course with prior permission.

Foreign Language Requirements

  • None

Total Undergraduate Credit Hours Required: 18

Other Requirements

  • No credit by exam (TSD, Military credit) may be used to satisfy the minor.
  • Internship, Co-op, or Independent Study credit cannot be used toward the minor.
