Actuarial Science Minor

This minor is designed to satisfy the Society of Actuaries (SOA) Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) requirements in the areas of Economics and Mathematical Statistics and prepare students for SOA Exam P, Exam FM and Exam IFM. It will also satisfy the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) VEE requirements in the area of Economics and prepare students for CAS Exam 1, Exam 2, and Exam 3F.  Furthermore, it will partially satisfy both the SOA and CAS VEE requirements in the area of Accounting and Finance. 

Minor Admission Requirements

  • Students need to complete the prerequisite courses.

Minor Requirements

  • A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) is required in all courses used to satisfy the minor.
  • At least 12 hours used in the minor must be earned at UCF within the Department of Statistics and Data Science.

Prerequisite Courses


Students must satisfy each course’s prerequisites before enrolling in the class.

Students are expected to have completed some of the following courses as part of their GEP requirement.

Restricted Electives


  • No additional courses are required.

Foreign Language Requirements


  • No Foreign Language is required.

Total Undergraduate Credit Hours Required: 21


Other Requirements


  • Internship, Co-op, or Independent Study credit cannot be used toward the minor.
  • Any course substitutions must be approved by the program coordinator in advance of their being taken.
