The mission of the undergraduate Technical Education and Industry Training B.S. degree program is to prepare highly effective educators for secondary school districts, post-secondary institutions and trainers for industry who are knowledgeable in their field, reflect teaching practices that are research-based, motivate students to be life-long learners, and supply their students with the skills necessary to compete in a global community.

This degree does not lead to an initial teacher certification at the state level.  

Technical Education and Industry Training (B.S.) may be completed fully online, although not all elective options or program prerequisites may be offered online. Newly admitted students choosing to complete this program exclusively via UCF online classes may enroll with a reduction in campus-based fees.

Course Construction Requirement (3 Credit Hours)

  • Choose one course.
  • Achieve a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

Technical Specialization Requirements (30 Credit Hours)

  • Students must complete an area of specialization through occupation-specific courses approved by advisor.
  • Achieve a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

Restricted Electives (21 Credit Hours)

Achieve a minimum of 2.5 GPA. 

Upper Division Electives (9 Credit Hours)

  • With advisor’s approval
  • Achieve a minimum of 2.5 GPA. 

Directed Field Experience (12 Credit Hours)

  • The Technical Specialization must be satisfied and all courses must be completed prior to registering, through your advisor, for the Directed Field Experience.
  • This supervised internship may be completed in an educational or industrial setting, or with the UCF program faculty assisting in teaching web-based courses.
  • The internship course has a S/U grading policy.
  • An internship application and other requirements are necessary before admission into the internship course. 

Foreign Language Requirements

State University System foreign language admission requirement: two years in high school or one year of college instruction in a single foreign language. (This requirement applies to those students admitted to the University without the required two units of foreign language in high school.)

Departmental Exit Requirements

  • Achieve a minimum 2.5 GPA in all courses within the
  • Achieve a minimum 2.5 GPA in the specialization coursework.
  • Achieve a minimum 2.5 GPA in the education core advanced level coursework.
  • Achieve a minimum overall 2.5 GPA

University Minimum Exit Requirements

  • A 2.0 UCF GPA
  • 48 semester hours of upper division credit completed
  • 60 semester hours earned after CLEP awarded
  • 30 of the last 39 hours of course work must be completed in residency at UCF.
  • A maximum of 45 hours of extension, correspondence, CLEP, Credit by Exam, and Armed Forces credits permitted.
  • Complete the General Education Program, the Gordon Rule, and nine hours of Summer credit.

Total Undergraduate Credit Hours Required: 120

  • Earn a minimum of 120 unduplicated credit hours with at least a “C” average (2.0 GPA) for all UCF course work attempted.
