The goal of the Individual Liberties Certificate is to provide students with an understanding of the substantive and procedural aspects of criminal law, as well an in-depth knowledge of individual liberties and rights as they relate to citizen-government relations. This Certificate is appropriate for any student planning to attend law school or who is planning to seek employment in a law office or criminal justice agency.

Required Courses (6 hrs)


Students must satisfy the prerequisites, if any, for each course before enrolling in the class.

Restricted Electives (9 hrs)


Students must satisfy the prerequisites, if any, for each course before enrolling in the class.

  • A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required in courses used to satisfy the certificate.
  • No credit by exam (TSD, Military credit) may be used.
  • Internship or Independent Study credit cannot be used toward the certificate.
  • At least 12 hours used in the program must be earned at UCF.
